DOV Music Exchange

Welcome to the Main Page for the Diocese of Venice Music Exchange. The Music Exchange is a project of the Diocesan Music Committee through which we hope to facilitate the exchange of choral octavos between participating parish music programs. The concept is simple:

1. You have octavos of liturgical music that you are not using.

2. Another parish musician would like to borrow your copies for use on a particular Sunday, or for a specific period of time.

3. The parish musician wishing to borrow the music arranges with you to pick up your copies, or perhaps to have them sent (and returned) at their expense, but for MUCH LESS than the cost of purchasing them for what might be a single or limited use.

The purpose of the Music Exchange site is simply to serve as a catalog of sorts, indicating what music is available to borrow and where it is available.

If you wish to participate:

Please send a list of octavos (and how many are available) that you are willing to loan out along with your name, parish name, and e-mail contact information. You may send this information either via e-mail to incarnation_music@comcast.net with the subject line "Music Exchange", or you may leave your information using the "Post a Comment" link at the bottom of this page following the instructions on the "Welcome" page of the Incarnation Music Ministry site. Your contact information and octavos available from your parish will then be posted on the Music Exchange Library page for others to view.

If you wish to borrow octavos from the Music Exchange Library.

If you wish to borrow octavos that are posted as available at the Music Exchange Library, you must contact the person who has listed them as available, using their posted e-mail infomation. The Music Exchange is not a "broker" and does not arrange to have music delivered or provide any services other than to list the music that is available and where it is available.

Some Basic Ground Rules

1. Since this music is intended for use at Mass, please only post selections that are appropriate for that use.

2. All octavos posted for loan must be originals... NO PHOTOCOPIED MUSIC PLEASE

3. If possible, include information such as arrangement (SATB, SAB, Piano/Vocal) and other information that would be relevant to someone borrowing (Easter Vigil verses, Latin verses, Guitar Chords, etc...)

4. Please mark all music loaned out with your parish name stamp to avoid confusion.

If you have any questions, or need additional instructions past what are posted here, please feel free to write to me, Jeffrey A. Herbert at incarnation_music@comcast.net and I will try to reply as soon as possible. This is a work in progress, so if you have any comments or suggestions on how this could work better, please let me know.
